Swanley and North Downs Lions (S&ND) is a member of Lions International, the world's largest service organisation with 1.4 million members in nearly 200 countries, uniting people in fellowship and community service.Founded in 1977 as Farningham and District Lions, S&ND serves the towns and villages along Kent's North Downs. raising funds locally and meeting requests for help from organisations and individuals, giving preference to those within our catchment area. The ‘lions’ share is dedicated to the local hospice service, caring for adults, children - and their families - based at Lions House, Gravesend, which the club helped to found. Our fund-raising activities normally include a Sponsored Walk in the Kent countryside in the Spring; ‘Bike around Brands' on a Friday evening in August and regular Quiz Evenings. We also 'shake a bucket' at local shopping centres each Christmas and take carols and Santa Claus to the streets of our towns and villages. Obviously this year’s events have been affected by the Coronavirus lockdown. But we are hoping to get going again so please keep in touch by checking our Facebook page or this website. We also (usually) enjoy a lively social programme - and even fund-raising events can be fun!
